Parks & Recreation to provide baseball day trips for seniors

Craig Parks & Recreation is arranging a series of trips to Colorado Rockies games throughout the summer and early fall for interested senior citizens over the age of 55.

A $30 entry fee buys participants transportation and a ticket to a Colorado Rockies game.

The group will leave for Denver at 7 a.m. for each game and return by 9 p.m. the same night. Space is limited.

The deadline to register for the first game, the May 20 game between the Rockies and the Seattle Mariners, is Wednesday. For more information, call 826-2004.

Registration for the ride through Northwest Colorado is free. A breakfast of pancakes, bacon, eggs and orange juice is available at the end of the day’s activities for $6.

Meeker to host Bob Tucker Memorial Golf Tournament

Registration is open for the fifth annual Bob Tucker Golf Tournament at Meeker Golf Course, 903 Rio Blanco County Road 13.

Proceeds from the event, which takes place May 19, will go toward the Coach Bob Tucker Scholarship fund, given to a student athlete who demonstrates sportsmanship, integrity and character.

The cost is $80 per participant for the four-person scramble and includes greens fees, a cart, lunch and the chance to win prizes given out to men and women for the longest drive and closest to the pin.

A “lunch only” option is $15 and requires a separate RSVP.

There is also a $5,000 prize for a hole-in-one.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the shotgun start is at 9:30.

To register, call the course at 878-5642. For more information on the scholarship, visit www.coachbobtucker.com or call 878-5415.
