Preschool accepting applications

Craig Head Start Preschool is accepting applications for the 2012-13 program year.

Application is open to parents with children who will turn 3 or 4 years old on or before Aug. 31.

Space is limited.

Elks Lodge hosting Mother’s Day celebration

The Elks Lodge, 43 W. Victory Way, will host a Mother’s Day celebration and spaghetti dinner Sunday.

The event is free and open to the public.

Bingo and other activities for children and teens 18 years old and younger will be provided from 2 to 4 p.m., with dinner and a celebration to follow.

A money pit, fishing pond, face painting and other activities will be available for children up to 12 years old.

All participants will receive a ticket for a drawing in which two iPods — one for a boy and one for a girl — will be awarded. For more information, call 620-0874.

Community barbecue Saturday

The Memorial Hospital in Craig will sponsor a free community barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Loudy-Simpson Park.

The event, which recognizes National Emergency Medical Services Week, is open to the public.

Live music and games will be provided.

Republican Women meet today

The Northwest Republican Women will host Chuck Grobe, a Republican candidate for the Moffat County Commission, during its regular meeting today.

The event takes place at 11:45 a.m. at The Galaxy Chinese Restaurant, 524 Yampa Ave.

The group’s meetings are open to all registered Republican men and women.
