Our View

Signage around Craig and Moffat County could use some improvement, for the sake of convenience, ease of travel and, most importantly, safety. Residents can assist with this, too, by being good citizens and trimming trees or removing obstructions.

May is here, and with it better weather, school coming to a close, and plenty more children out and about during the week and for longer hours.

The prospect of children around Craig and Moffat County during the summer got the editorial board thinking about signage, and how some areas could be drastically improved.

The first area of concern for the board, and we’re betting many parents out in the community, are crosswalks and how they can be better spotted.

They need to be better marked, for both pedestrians and motorists.

We’ve managed to limit serious injury accidents in Craig, largely, and it’d be nice for that streak to continue.

Improving crosswalks and the signage could help do that very thing.

Another area that could use some help is clearing branches and obstructions that limit the visibility of road signs around town.

Some residents are mindful of this in the community and do a great job being responsible citizens.

But, there’s the flip side — residents who aren’t so mindful.

The editorial board respectfully requests people take a few minutes and remove obstructions that limit visibility, especially around stop signs. It could go a long way in avoiding traffic accidents and/or serious injuries.

These are just two simple ways we can improve the community without investing a lot of time and expense, but the editorial board considers them vitally important.

After all, it’s often the little things that can make the biggest difference.
