Photography firm celebrating anniversary with promotions

A can’t-miss gift for any mother this Sunday is a plentiful supply of pictures of her children.

But, getting snapshots of the kids doesn’t have to be reserved just for Mother’s Day, and one local photographer wants to help capture those youthful family memories forever.

As part of her eighth anniversary, Tracy Spencer, owner of Lifetime Photography, will be reinvigorating her business with multiple new facets, the first of which is The Cutest Kid in the Yampa Valley Photo Contest.

Voting for the contest is underway on the studio’s Facebook page for pictures of children in Craig and surrounding towns.

Children should be between the ages of three months and 10 years old.

The contest runs through 8 p.m. Mother’s Day, when the top vote-getter will receive a modeling session and portrait package worth $500.

“The contest is basically a way to remind the community that I’m still here and I’m still taking pictures,” Spencer said.

Spencer specializes in photographing children, whether it’s strictly the younger set or children with their families.

“I’ve also done maternity pictures for women who want something to remember their pregnancy, and we’re going to be doing some new stuff for high school senior portraits this year,” she said.

Later in the year, Spencer will offer the class of 2013 new prices for their packages, as well as the option of outdoor sessions, which will be available for all ages.

Spencer said she is updating her technological availability for customers looking for convenience.

She will keep digital files from sessions for those who prefer the format and will continue to increase her online presence.

“That’s why I wanted to do the contest through Facebook because it’s something pretty much everybody is comfortable with by now,” she said.

Kum & Go rolls out summer prices, online fun

Right on the border of spring and summer with temperatures rising, now is the perfect time for people in Northwest Colorado to indulge in some cold beverages.

A Coke or Pepsi here and there can add up, but the hotter months usually amount to smaller prices for such a specialty.

Local Kum and Go outlets — 1302 W. Victory Way, 895 Yampa Ave., and 700 E. Victory Way — began a summer pricing program for fountain drinks at the beginning of May.

The convenience stores will offer 32-ounce drinks for 79 cents throughout the season.

And, for the first time, larger drinks will also be part of the promotion.

The 44- and 52-ounce cups are available at 89 cents and 99 cents each.

The summer deal is not limited to the cups and soda section of the shops.

Much like last year’s “Store Wars,” in which customers across the nation could vote for their preferred store locations, the chain is offering the Internet competition “Thirst for Victory.”

Through the end of August, patrons can submit their ideas for online games — ranging from funny photos to unusual twists on traditional entertainment — and picking the top suggestions from fellow entrants.
