To the editor:
Mollie and I and our granddaughter, Taya, would like to publicly thank deputy Todd Wheeler and members of the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, as well as commend the swift action by Craig Fire/Rescue in helping us control a blaze in our field Saturday.
Deputy Wheeler was first on the scene and pitched right in to lend a hand, providing help and resources to temporarily contain the fire. When the wind became so strong the fire jumped our line, members of the fire department were there to bring the bigger fire under control.
As citizens, we owe so much to those who wear a uniform and answer to the call to protect us whether at home or abroad. They are indeed a special group of true Americans who many times go unappreciated.
We have some really great reasons to live in Northwest Colorado, but few things can top the great folks like deputy Wheeler and members of the Craig and Moffat County law enforcement community and our rural fire department.

Question of the week
News this week showed snowpack in the Yampa River basin has reached 94 percent of median for the date. Do you think Moffat County is out of the woods as far as drought concerns?
