Letter: It's time to wake up America

To the editor:

It’s time to wake up, America, as the Apostle Paul wrote concerning the end times, which we are living.

But know this: in the last days perilous times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemous, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, slanderous, brutal, despisers of good, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

Doesn’t this accurately describe our modern age?

As part of the end of times scenario, Jesus described droughts, famines, fires, floods, earthquakes, and other disasters on a global scale, events we have seen regularly in recent years.

These warnings are reflected in the tsunamis that destroyed coastal areas around the Indian Ocean and devastated a city and nuclear power plant in Japan, volcanic eruptions in Indonesia, record droughts and floods in Australia, South Africa and the American southwest, deadly earthquakes in Turkey and China, devastating hurricanes and tornadoes in Missouri, and other parts of the world. Also, there have been rampaging fires in Australia, Texas, California and in most parts of America.

The list goes on.

Many of these disasters are reported to be the worst in a century or the worst on record.

So, we must ask ourselves, what is happening around the world and to America?

Think about it.

If you would like to know more about this vital topic, read the Bible, especially the Book of Revelation.

("Doesn’t this accurately describe our modern age?")

It accurately describes every age, from Rome and it's fall, on through the Inquisition and French revolution up to this time. If one dies in a natural catastrophe, so be it. There is no life without death. According to Fred Phelps, of the Westboro Baptist Church, God hates America, in fact he believes God hates most of mankind. Que sera, sera..... The following, according to Fred Phelps.... http://www.godhatesfags.com/bible/God-hates.html Bible Verses About The Hatred Of God (for more details, read God Loves Everyone: The Greatest Lie Ever Told)

Can God the Father be a God of hate while Jesus Christ, the same God, our Savior, be the Prince of Peace and God of love? Believe what you will from the Old Testament, interpret it as you will. Fred Phelps does.
