A pediatrician is on board to join The Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic this summer.
Hospital officials reached an agreement this week with Dr. Kristie Yarmer, TMH reported Friday in a news release.
She is scheduled to begin work in July.
Hiring a pediatrician has been a priority since early 2011, and Yarmer is “the right fit for our organization and our community,” Chief Executive Officer George Rohrich said in the release.
“Kristie brings with her experience, knowledge and enthusiasm that will enable her to provide excellent care to our children,” he said.
Yarmer is the second pediatrician to sign on with TMH. The hospital reached an agreement with Kelly Follett last year, and she is scheduled to come to Craig in August 2013 after completing her residency.
Yarmer, a native of Big Timber, Mont., has experience working in rural communities in Georgia and Florida.
She received her bachelor's degree from Carroll College in Helena, Mont., followed by her medical degree at Creighton Medical School in Omaha, Neb.
She completed her pediatric internship and residency at Children's Hospital in Denver.
Yarmer and her husband, Chad, have two children, Benjamin and Emilee.
Dr. Scott Ellis, TMH chief of staff, praised Yarmer's hiring as a benefit to the hospital and the community, both of which identified the need for a local pediatrician.
“Dr. Yarmer will fit well within our practice,” he said in the release. “She brings both knowledge and experience and has comfort working in rural communities.”
