WELLINGTON, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say they are close to fully containing a large grass fire burning on private property just north of Fort Collins.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office says the fire began shortly after noon on Sunday and scorched about 650 acres about 5 miles north of Wellington. The fire was about 90 percent contained by late Sunday afternoon, and no injuries have been reported.
Authorities say about 60 emergency notifications were sent out advising area residents within a 2-mile radius of the fire to be ready to leave their homes, though no evacuations were necessary.
The blaze damaged a shed and is believed to be human caused.
