Hens and Chicks meeting today

Hens and Chicks, the local chapter of Mary Jane’s Farm Girls club, is meeting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Colorado Northwestern Community College’s Bell Tower Building, 50 College Dr.

This month’s program will show participants how to make a potholder from fabric quilting scraps.

A potluck is scheduled during the event, and attendees are asked to bring a dish to share.

World Day of Prayer event today in Hayden

Hayden Congregational Church, 202 E. Jefferson Ave., will host a World Day of Prayer service from noon to 1:30 p.m. today.

The event is open to the public and lunch will be provided after the program.

The service is prepared by the World Day of Prayer organization and women of Malaysia.

“We will be sharing stories of the women of Malaysia, as well as looking at their culture, customs, music and more,” the church reported in a news release.

Food preparation seminar set for Monday

Craig resident Lynne Herring will host a food preservation seminar at 7 p.m. Monday.

The event will include information on how to store food for three months and other food storage tips.

Kiwanis Play today, Saturday

The 66th annual Craig Kiwanis Club Play is scheduled for 8 p.m. today and Saturday at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Proceeds fund Kiwanis Club scholarships.

Donations sought for former Craig resident

Donations are being accepted for Shirley Kindred, formerly of Craig, who is battling breast cancer.

Donations can be sent to 1615 E. Evans Ave., Pueblo, CO, 81004, account no. 39474. All proceeds will help defray Kindred’s medical costs.

A benefit for her will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Steel City Eagles Aerie, 704 Elmhurst Place, in Pueblo. The event includes a fried chicken dinner, raffle bags, an auction and 50-50 in-house poker hands.

Dinner costs $7 and poker costs $5 per hand.
