The Yampa Valley Electric Association is seeking applicants for two vacancies on its board of directors.
Seats are available in Director District 1— which includes northern Moffat County, a small portion of north Routt County and the Baggs, Wyo., area — and Director District 5, which includes west Routt County and the town of Hayden.
Candidates’ primary residences must be in the district they are applying for.
“Our board of directors establishes policies and procedures for the day-to-day operations of the utility,” said Jim Chappell, YVEA manager of consumer accounts.
The board also reviews finances and establishes rates.
“In essence, they establish the guidelines that we operate the business under,” Chappell said.
The positions have been vacant since two board members — Sam Haslem and Peggy Espy, District 1 director and Savery, Wyo., resident—resigned in May.
Candidates must submit a letter of interest and resume by 5 p.m. July 9 to the company’s office at 32 10th St., Steamboat Springs.
“We want to know why they’re interested in running and why do they deem themselves qualified to represent the members of Yampa Valley Electric,” Chappell said.
For more information call Larry Covillo, YVEA president and general manager, at 879-1160.
