Briefs for June 29: Sprint races Saturday at Thunder Ridge

Winged sprint car races take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at Thunder Ridge Motorsports Park, two miles south of Craig on Ranney St.

Admission costs $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12 years old, and children ages 5 and younger enter free.

Free health screenings for miners

The Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic, 785 Russell St., will offer free and confidential health screenings for local miners from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

The program, offered by The Miners Clinic of Colorado at National Jewish Health and The Memorial Hospital, is available for current and retired miners, uranium miners, millers and ore transporters, and people who worked at or lived downwind from the Nevada test site during nuclear weapons testing.

Appointments are required and space is limited.

Raffle set for Saturday bingo

The American Legion hosts bingo Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 43 W. Victory Way.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and bingo starts at 5:45 p.m.

The event includes a progressive jackpot of $1,199 that must be won and a raffle for an AR 15 rifle.

Preserving the Last Frontier meets Saturday

Preserving the Last Frontier will conduct its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the library on the second floor of Sunset Meadows 1, 633 Ledford St.

The program will feature the first installment in a series titled “Homesteaders in Moffat County.”

Family Cast & Blast Sunday

Wyman Museum, 94350 E. U.S. Highway 40, will host Family Cast & Blast from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The event is free and open to all ages.

Families can participate in rifle shooting, archery, fly fishing and bait fishing. The event includes gear, instructions and lunch.

VNA Relay For Life fundraisers

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association’s Relay For Life team will host two fundraisers in July.

The first event takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Vallarta’s Restaurant in Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of the evening’s proceeds to the team.

An ice cream social fundraiser takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 14 in the northwest corner of the Safeway parking lot, 1295 W. Victory Way. Ice cream costs 50 cents for children 10 years old and younger and $1 for children and adults 11 years old and older.

Raffle tickets also will be available for $1, with prizes including donations from True Value Hardware, Gino’s Neighborhood Pizzeria & Grill, Walmart and other donors.
