Although Moffat County Commission candidates are listed in the incorrect districts, the Republican Party primary election ballot is valid, county election officials said.

Republican Party primary election ballots mailed earlier this month contain a mistake.

The ballot many registered Moffat County voters received incorrectly lists Audrey

Danner and Chuck Grobe as running for the Moffat County Commission’s District 1 seat, and Dave DeRose as running unopposed in District 2.

Danner and Grobe should be listed in district 2, and DeRose should be featured in the district 1 slot.

Moffat County Elections Supervisor Stephanie Beckett alerted the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office about the mistake, but state officials contend it's a non-issue.

“Upon reviewing the sample ballot you sent, it does not appear the district numbers being reversed is a fatal flaw,” said Wayne Munster, of the secretary's office in an email. “Since the commissioners are voted on at-large, the ballot style is essentially correct.”

Munster wrote that vote tabulation will not be affected and that votes cast will be attributed to the correct candidates.

Residents voting in the GOP primary have until 7 p.m. June 26 to return ballots to the elections office located in the Moffat County Courthouse, 221 W. Victory Way. Ballots may be returned by mail or dropped off in person.

Voters may also deposit ballots during normal business hours in drop boxes located at Craig City Hall, 300 W. Fourth St.; Dinosaur Library, 400 School St.; and Maybell Library, 202 Collom St.

The deadline for ballots at alternate locations are:

• 5 p.m. June 26 at Craig City Hall

• 5 p.m. June 22 at the Maybell Library

• Noon June 26 at Dinosaur Library

An electronic voting machine is available at the Moffat County Courthouse for disabled residents who would prefer not to vote by paper.
