‘Classy and fabulous’: Five minutes with Heather Curtis, 26, co-owner of Sheer Bliss Hair & Nails

Where is your hometown? “Vernal, Utah.”

What brought you to Craig? “I moved here in June 2007. My husband worked in the coal mines, but the housing market in Vernal was crazy because of the oil field, so we couldn’t afford to buy a house there, so we moved here so he could work at Twentymile.”

Motto or outlook on life? “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

When did you first get started in your job? “We opened a year ago, but before that I had opened Sheer Bliss Nails. I was a stay-at-home mom and I decided I wanted to do something for myself. I was previously a nurse, but I didn’t like delivering bad news and I wanted to help people feel good about themselves.”

Favorite meal from a local restaurant? “The chicken Alfredo from Gino’s. It has a lot of flavor and I like the atmosphere there.”

Celebrity crush? “Channing Tatum. I like his versatility onscreen and he’s just dreamy. I thought '21 Jump Street’ looked funny and ‘The Vow’ showed a whole new side of him. That stripper movie he’s doing (‘Magic Mike’) looks really good, too. They should make that in 3-D, I’d totally go for that. (Laughs)”

Superpower you’d like? “X-ray vision would be cool or being able to see long distances. I think people-watching is fun, so it would be interesting to do it from a long way away.”

DVD you could watch repeatedly? “I think ’50 First Dates.’ It’s funny and it’s got a good lesson.”

Job you would never apply for? “A car salesman, for sure. I’m not very pushy or forceful and I’m not a very good liar.”

Word or phrase you’d use to describe yourself? “Reserved. I have a hard time taking chances and I’m not very outgoing.”

Proudest accomplishment? “I have two. Opening my own business and having my daughter.”

Most embarrassing moment? “We like to go to Flaming Gorge out there for boating, and you really have to wear a swimsuit that fits you. I was being pulled behind a tube, and I lost it in the water. They probably have five or six of my bikini bottoms there, but now I always make sure I have a swimsuit that fits right.”

Best nail color combination for almost anyone? “Pink and white is something anyone can wear and those are the colors we have here for decoration. I really like hot pink and a lot of salons are kind of old and traditional, so I wanted to shake that up.”
