Where is your hometown?
“I’m from the Front Range, originally. I was born and raised in Denver.”
When did you move to Craig?
“I’ve been here for about 23 years. I had an elk ranch for 20 years on County Road 15, and I had a business, Great Divide Cleaning. I did both of those for many, many years, and then decided to sell the ranch, move closer to town.”
Motto or outlook on life?
“I feel very strongly that it’s not what I do, it’s who I am as a Christian, and I try to treat people the way I’d want to be treated. I’m very involved in my church, and I try to live my life according to scripture and in a way the lord would be proud of.”
When did you first get started in your job?
“About six years ago. That’s when I first got into real estate.”
Favorite part of your job?
“I like the freedom of being able to schedule things that I need to do myself without somebody looking over my shoulder. A lot of jobs don’t offer that, and it’s just 9 (a.m.) to 5 (p.m.)”
Favorite part of life in Northwest Colorado?
“The outdoor activities. I love to hunt, fish, water sports. Camping with family is really important to me, and Northwest Colorado has a lot to offer.”
Least favorite?
“The winters get pretty long and pretty cold. Denver’s obviously got its snow, but it doesn’t have the real cold temps we get here.”
Favorite meal from a local restaurant?
“Probably a good steak from the Tin Cup (Grill). A T-bone would probably be my favorite. I eat a lot of wild meat, but I just enjoy the taste of that marble fat of beef.”
Business you’d like to see in the area?
“Someone who deals in water wells would do well here because there’s nobody here who’s a full-service well company. I also think we’re in need of a good sporting goods store in Craig.”
Dream vacation?
“For me, two months in Alaska. I love that place. I’ve been up there four or five times and it’s just a great time. If it’s a family thing, my wife would probably want to go on a two-week cruise. We’ve actually been up to Alaska twice on cruises, but they were pretty short. A perfect vacation would be a cruise to Alaska, I could stay and hunt for a month, she could do something else, and then we could cruise back home.”
Nightmare vacation?
“I have no desire to go to the Caribbean. The beaches and sunshine, that’s just not me. We’ve been there once, and I didn’t enjoy it.”
Song you could listen to 1,000 times?
“I’m kind of old school when it comes to songs. A particular I could listen to is ‘How Great Thou Art,’ it’s just a great old hymn and I never get tired of it.”
Proudest accomplishment?
“To raise my kids and understand that they’re doing well. I have two kids and five grandkids. Both my kids are living in the Denver metropolitan area now.”
Word or phrase that best describes your personality?
“‘Git ‘er done.’ I had an old friend and that used to be his favorite saying. I’m a pretty aggressive fellow and I’m pretty pro-active, so no matter what I’m working on, I’m pretty focused.”
