Briefs for July 25, 2012: Donations needed for school supply drive

Love In the Name of Christ of the Yampa Valley, 656 School St., is accepting donations for a school supply drive.
Items most commonly needed include new backpacks, 24-packs of crayons, 12-packs of colored pencils, No. 2 pencils, loose-leaf notebook paper, spiral notebooks, facial tissue, safety scissors, pencil sharpeners, rulers, liquid glue, glue sticks, erasers, watercolor paints, pens (blue, red or black ink), typing paper, sticky notes, colored two-pocket folders and Clorox wipes.
Donations will go toward Project School Supply, which provides materials for children ages 4 and older, and Project Teacher Supply, a partnership between Love INC and the Craig Rotary Club to provide commonly needed materials to local educators.
Cash donations also are accepted and can be brought to the Love INC office or mailed to P.O. Box 892, Craig, CO, 81626.

Local clinic offering free sports exams
Moffat Family Clinic, 600 Russell St., is offering free sports physicals for Moffat County High School and Craig Middle School students through July 31.
Call 824-3252 to schedule an appointment.
Foreclosure prevention workshop next week
A foreclosure prevention workshop is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. Aug. 2 in the conference room in the Moffat County Courthouse, 221 W. Victory Way.
The event, sponsored by the Colorado Foreclosure Hotline, is free and open to the public.
Housing counselors approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will be available to speak with residents about foreclosure prevention options.
CNCC plans trips to UK, Tennessee
Deposits for two upcoming Colorado Northwestern Community College trips are due Aug. 1.
The college is planning a trip to Nashville, Tenn., in early December for adult learners. The deposit is $500.
A spring break trip to London and Edinburgh, Scotland, is scheduled for March 8 through 17, 2013. The trip is open to community members and students, and the deposit costs $600.
