Briefs for July 2: VNA Relay For Life fundraiser today

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association’s Relay For Life team will host a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Vallarta’s Mexican Restaurant in Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of the evening’s proceeds to the team.

July Fourth parade, picnic Wednesday

A Fourth of July parade starts at noon Wednesday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, 419 E. Victory Way.

The event is free to all floats, groups and participants. Lineup is at 10 a.m.

The parade ends at Craig Post Office, 556 Pershing St.

A Fourth of July picnic follows at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips, baked beans, watermelon and beverages will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring a dessert.

The event also includes children’s games and live entertainment.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary members are seeking volunteers to help with games and serve food.

Medicare counseling Tuesday in Craig

Medicare consultations take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday in room 106 of Colorado Northwestern Community College’s Bell Tower Building, 50 College Drive.

Betsy Packer, with the State Health Insurance Assistance Program, is available the first and third Tuesdays of every month to offer one-on-one help to residents with Medicare and their families.

The consultations are free and confidential, and they are open to residents who receive Medicare, which is for people 65 and older, or who will be receiving Medicare services in the near future.
