Sports briefs for Jan. 4, 2012: Trailbusters registration deadline Friday


Trailbusters is now accepting registration for the 2012 season.

The program is put on by Craig Parks and Recreation and provides ski or snowboard lessons for youths 6 to 15 years old.

The program will take place Jan. 21 and 28 and Feb. 4, 11 and 25.

Registration is $295 with transportation provided. Lift tickets are $29 each day.

Ski and snowboard rentals are left up to the participant.

Water aerobics begin Monday

Craig Parks and Recreation is now accepting registration for a water aerobics class.

Classes are from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Moffat County High School pool, 900 Finley Lane.

The course begins Monday and runs through March 14.

The drop-in fee is $3 per class or $50 for the session.

Basketball registration deadline Jan. 11

Craig Parks and Recreation is now accepting registration for kindergarten, first- and second-grade basketball teams.

Players will learn basic basketball skills, including dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and playing as a team.

Games are played on weekdays during the early evening.

Boys will play Monday and Wednesday nights, and girls will play Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Parent volunteers are needed to coach to make the program successful.

Registration is $30 per player and the deadline is Jan. 11.

Any registration turned in after Jan. 11 will be put on a waiting list. The season will run from Feb. 13 to April 12.
