104-car coal train derails in western Colorado

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — An investigation is under way after a 104-car train loaded with coal derailed in De Beque Canyon in western Colorado.

Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis tells the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel (http://bit.ly/A2twIb ) the train was headed from the West Elk Mine in Arco to Kentucky when one of its cars went off the rails just before 6 p.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported.

Davis says the derailed car remained upright and did not dump its load.
