Briefs for Feb. 1, 2012: Deadline for CNCC trip today

Colorado Northwestern Community College’s Craig campus is hosting a trip to Louisiana from April 10 through 14 as part of its community education program.

The deadline to make reservations is today.

The tour takes participants to Crescent City, Cajun country and Shreveport.

Trip highlights include plantation tours, a visit to the New Orleans School of Cooking and lunch in Crawfish Town, U.S.A., the college reported in a news release.

The trip costs $1,499 for residents older than 62. The non-senior rate is $1,749 per person. The cost includes transportation from Craig, all admissions, tips, baggage fees, four breakfasts, four dinners and two lunches.

Kiwanis Play ticket sales begin Saturday

Tickets for the annual Craig Kiwanis Club Play begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at JW Snack’s, 210 E. Victory Way.

Doors open at 2 p.m., and the line will begin Thursday in the parking lot west of the restaurant.

The 66th annual play is scheduled for 8 p.m. March 2 and 3.

VNA Immunization clinics every slated

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association will host drop-in immunization clinics from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. every Thursday at its Craig office, 745 Russell St.

The clinic offers all routine vaccinations and flu shots and is open to all ages.

Adult flu shots cost $16 and flu shots and flu mist for children cost $14 or less.

No appointment is necessary for the drop-in clinics, and flu shots also are available by appointment.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends everyone 6 months old and older get flu vaccinations.

Free cardiovascular screenings offered

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association’s Craig office, 745 Russell St., will offer free cardiovascular screenings from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Monday in February.

The screenings include total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, blood glucose and body mass index.

Appointments are required.
