Late season youth hunts are underway, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife wants to remind young elk hunters and their parents or mentors about eligibility information.
New youth hunt rules include limits according to color-coded Game Management Units as defined on page four of the 2012 Colorado Big Game brochure.
One rule remains unchanged, according to a Parks and Wildlife news release. Youth hunters with an unfilled bull tag do not qualify for a late season hunt.
Youth hunters who have not applied for a tag may view a list of late season hunting opportunities online.
Additional questions about the latest rules and regulations may be directed to a local district wildlife manager, or by visiting a Colorado Parks and Wildlife office.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife encourages young hunters by providing additional late season opportunities to improve their chances of success, the release states.
Agency officials believe a successful hunting experience can spur lifelong passion and respect for wildlife and outdoor activities.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife manages 42 state parks, all of Colorado’s wildlife, more than 300 state wildlife areas, and a host of recreational programs.
