In a generous move Chris Nichols, owner of McDonald’s in Craig, donated 50 percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night fundraiser to Sandrock Elementary.
Although McDonald’s suggested donation amount is between 15 and 20 percent of sales, according to a news release, Nichols donated half of all sales between 4 and 7 p.m. September 26, for a total of $1,490.96.
Principals, teachers, parents and administrators all participate in the event by taking on the role of McDonald's employees for an evening, the release states.
And Nichols is just one of many McDonald’s owners/operators throughout Colorado who donated more than $59,690 to schools during the 7th annual Teachers Challenge event, according to the release.
The challenge is part of a partnership between McDonald’s and the Colorado PTA, in an effort to help schools raise money to fund programs lost to budget cuts.
