The Colorado Northwestern Community College first free movie nights received a mixed turnout, with no one coming for the Tuesday showings while seeing a sizable crowd Wednesday.
A festive movie, Jim Carey as “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” played at 5 and 7:30 p.m. for students and community members to enjoy.
“Wednesday night’s first showing was a big success,” said Jennifer Holloway, who runs the Merc Bookstore on the CNCC campus. “We had 15 – 20 people, and were really busy with people just hanging out at the school.”
The event was meant to be a fun and relaxing event for students as they wind down from a stressful week of finals.
“It’s a fun end of finals kind of party,” Holloway said.
One-dollar popcorn was available for movie watchers to purchase.
Student Government president Zoey Sowers said the event was a nice way for students to let go of all their stress.
“We always do something fun during finals week,” Sowers said. “This time we wanted to do something different.”
Sowers said she saw a good mix of students and community members at the event.
Hoping to do it next semester during finals, Sowers said the event was a success.
“It was very fun,” Sowers said. “I hope we get more people next semester.”
