2 charged with felonies for pot-laced brownies

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Two University of Colorado students have been charged with felonies for allegedly giving pot-laced brownies to classmates and a professor without their knowledge.
The Daily Camera reports (http://bit.ly/UWvhBT ) that prosecutors Thursday charged 19-year-old Mary Elizabeth Essa with 18 felony counts that include second-degree assault. Prosecutors had earlier charged 21-year-old Thomas Ricardo Cunning with similar counts. The incident last week at the school sickened seven students and professor.
In an unrelated incident, a 14-year-old girl was sent to a hospital Wednesday after eating a marijuana brownie at a high school. The (Colorado Springs) Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/UCtLR2) that a 14-year-old boy was arrested and released to his parents.
Police told the Gazette the girl knew what was in the brownie before she ate it.
