In the middle of the holiday season, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle and forget to take time for the little things.
Connections 4 Kids is helping people to remember to take that time with its second annual Cherish the Little Things children’s art show.
Although the event is not until Feb. 7, Connections 4 Kids is seeking contributions now.
Last year’s show included 210 pieces with 175 of them coming from Moffat County artists ages three through 18.
Connections 4 Kids coordinator Michelle Balleck said the show is a great way for community involvement.
“It was so fun last year to be able to see the kids come in and see their artwork on display and feel it was valued,” Balleck said.
Even those who didn’t have their own artwork in the show usually knew someone who did, Balleck said.
Work completed during school by Moffat County School District K-12 students already receives consideration for the show. Home school students and youngsters not quite school age are welcomed to submit pieces as well Balleck said.
“We’d like a well rounded representation of the community,” Balleck said.
To submit entries, students may create a two or three-dimensional piece in any medium, of any direction and any size.
All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. January 15 at Connections 4 Kids, 595 Breeze St. in Craig.
Balleck said last year’s show raised right around $8,000.
“We were stunned with the reaction from the community,” Balleck said. “Whatever we’re able to raise is such a huge help to us and our programs.”
Sponsorship opportunities are available the $350 and $150 levels, with businesses, organization and individual sponsorships available.
