Craig BCA Pool League Week 11 standings

The Billiards Congress of America Pool League in Craig standings, updated through 11 weeks of play.

Team Poke-n-Hope took the lead back from Rehab is for Quitters in their ongoing tussle for first place in the Sunday league. Meanwhile, Jean’s Angels made up ground last week and now is just 21 points out of first place.

The Monday League continues to be unpredictable at the top. Team Git-R-Done was in third place after Week 9, first after Week 10 and now is back into third. Team Steve has taken over the top spot, while No Ex-Cue-Ses remained in second place.

Annual basketball shootout set for this weekend Craig

The Elks Club of Craig is hosting its annual basketball shootout at Sandrock Elementary School gym Saturday.

The Elks Hoop Shoot will take place at 8 a.m. Sunday, after which the club will host a brunch and awards ceremony for all participants and parents at the Elks Lodge in Craig, 43 W. Victory Way.

The free-throw shooting contest is for boys and girls ages 8 to 13, and will have kids shoot 25 foul shots in two rounds. The winners in each age group will have the opportunity to compete in the district, state, regional and national hoop shoot, if they qualify.

Elks will cover the cost of any travel to further hoop shoots, including the nationals in Massachusetts.

Water Aerobics courses available to walk-ins

Craig residents looking to get a different kind of exercise are in luck.

Registration is open for water aerobics courses, which began Oct. 22 and run through Jan. 16.

Water Aerobics offer a good combination of exercise benefits, improving fitness and flexibility while also being easier on the joints than other forms of exercise.

Classes are Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Moffat County High School. The fee to drop-in for a class is $4, or to sign up for the entire session costs $50.

Signup deadline approaching for winter lifeguard training courses

Registration for a lifeguard training course during the winter break is open.

Craig Parks and Recreation has aquatic programs year-round and is in need of lifeguards even during the winter and spring. The class is for teenagers and adults ages 15 and older.

Participants must pass a swim test before being allowed to take the lifeguard course, which will take place during the school’s winter break.

The swim test will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and therefore doubles as the last day to sign up for the training course.

There is a registration fee of $125. All of those who are interested should call Parks and Rec at 970-826-2017 to register.
