Motorcycle rollover ends in fatality in Moffat County
Craig A 74-year-old man from San Jose, Calif., was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon after rolling his motorcycle on Moffat County Road 112 north of Craig.
The name of the victim is being withheld until his family has been notified, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release.
At about 3:52 p.m. Sunday, a 2010 Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle was traveling south on C.R. 112. The driver skidded as he entered a curve and was ejected from the motorcycle as it rotated off the east side of the road, according to the news release.
The motorcycle continued to travel up an embankment before coming to a rest a short distance from the driver.
The man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and law enforcement officers do not think drugs or alcohol were factors, according to the release.
Excessive speed is suspected to be a contributing factor, troopers reported.
The driver was taken to The Memorial Hospital in Craig, where he was pronounced dead.
There were no other passengers, according to the release, and the incident remains under investigation.
