Briefs for August 6: Craig Daily Press seeking new editorial board members

The Craig Daily Press is seeking people to participate on its next editorial board.

Editorial board members meet from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays to discuss the newspaper’s opinion pieces for that week’s Wednesday and Saturday editions.

Editorial board terms last three months.

Cars sought for upcoming show

Owners of antique, hotrod and unusual cars are being sought for participation in a local car show Sept. 1.

Humane Society sets meeting, discount adoption dates

The Humane Society of Moffat County will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Golden Cavvy, 538 Yampa Ave. Anyone interested in joining the organization should contact Ann Anderson at 620-2014.

The Humane Society will also sponsor Second Chance Saturday, a discount pet adoption day, from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 11 at Bear Creek Animal Hospital. All shelter animals will cost $60 to adopt. The regular price is $115. The fee includes spay/neuter costs, vaccinations and feline leukemia tests for cats.

The Humane Society is currently offering all adult cats at a discount adoption rate of $50 through Aug. 18 at the Craig Animal Shelter.

Organization serving youth seeking tourney teams, sponsors

Northwest Rocky Mountain Court Appointed Special Advocates will host a softball tournament Saturday and is seeking teams and sponsors. It will be an elimination tournament, with proceeds benefitting Moffat County Youth. The tournament will begin at 9 a.m., and organizers are seeking eight to 10 teams.
