To the editor:
I want to publicly thank The Haven in Hayden for a great service they have been providing as of late.
My husband is a victim of Alzheimer’s disease. This requires me to be a full-time caretaker for him. Because I love him, it’s not done as a chore or an unwanted task, but as an act of love.
But, it can be and is a very demanding way of life. The Haven has given me an opportunity to get some respite care, for me.
The Haven has been offering a daycare program for people with cognitive problems, including Alzheimer’s. This affords me a time to be away from home for a few hours without stress or demands being made on me and without having to worry about my husband, knowing he’s in a safe place and being well taken care of.
The Haven has my undying gratitude for the wonderful, caring and knowledgeable staff and thoughtfulness in providing a much-needed service for the community.
