The Little Snake River Valley School’s six-man varsity football team, seeking a Wyoming best 13-game win streak, did so without getting on the field Friday.
The Rattlers’ game against Guernsey-Sunrise High School, scheduled for 3 p.m. today in Baggs, Wyo., was forfeited by Guernsey due to a sickness outbreak on the team, LSRV head coach Mike Bates said Friday.
LSRV, 3-0 this season, defeated the Vikings last season, 69-6, in Guernsey. This year’s game would have likely had a similar outcome.
The Vikings are now 0-3, and scored only 21 points in their two previous losses.
On Friday, Bates took his team to watch Green River High School play Buffalo High School in Buffalo to allow his players to see two of the more elite teams in the state, he said.
LSRV’s winning streak extends back to the 2010 season, when the Rattlers went undefeated and won the Wyoming 1A six-man state championship.
The Rattlers will play Meeteetse High School on Sept. 24 in Meeteetse.
A kickoff time has not been announced.

News this week showed snowpack in the Yampa River basin has reached 94 percent of median for the date. Do you think Moffat County is out of the woods as far as drought concerns?
