Sagebrush Reading Council: ‘Wonderful community’

To the editor:

The Sagebrush Reading Council would like to thank those families who attended their local school’s Family Literacy Night.

The Family Literacy Nights not only shared Gary Johnston’s important message about the power of reading with parents, but the nights also created a great atmosphere of a family dinner.

Not only did the children get to share time with family, they also experienced fun and exciting literacy activities.

The Sagebrush Reading Council would like to thank the principals, teachers, and staff members for providing dinner, orchestrating and staffing these successful evenings.

Thank you to Colorado Northwestern Community College, United Way and Downtown Books for arranging that each family received a read aloud book. What a wonderful contribution to this community’s youth.

The Sagebrush Reading Council is especially grateful for the lodging and meals provided by several local businesses. These Family Literacy Nights would not have been possible if it were not for the generous donations.

Gary Johnston’s message is loud and clear. Children excel when loved ones read to them outside of the classroom.

Make a difference in a child’s life by being that special someone who takes 10 minutes a night to read to a child. We look forward to bringing the community more literacy events.

Thanks again to this wonderful community.
