Sports Briefs for Nov. 30, 2011: Lifeguard training class registration ends today


Craig Parks and Recreation is offering a Red Cross lifeguard training class to anyone interested.

The class will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 30 and Jan. 2 to 4 at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane.

Participants must be at least age 15 and be able to pass a pre-course swimming test.

The pre-course swimming test is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at MCHS.

The course costs $100 and the deadline to register is Dec. 7.

Basketball registration deadline set for Jan. 12

Craig Parks and Recreation is now accepting registration for kindergarten, first- and second-grade basketball teams.

Players will learn basic basketball skills, including dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and playing as a team.

Games are played on weekdays during the early evening.

Boys will play Monday and Wednesday nights and girls will play Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Parent volunteers are needed to coach to make the program successful.

Registration is $30 per player and the deadline is Jan. 12.

Any registration turned in after Jan. 12 will be put on a waiting list.

The season will run from Feb. 13 to April 14.

Register open for the 2012 Trailbusters

Trailbusters is now accepting registration for the 2012 season.

The program is put on by Craig Parks and Recreation and provides ski or snowboard lessons for youth ages 6 to 15.

The program will take place Jan. 21 and 28 and Feb. 4, 11 and 25.

Registration is $295 with transportation provided. Lift tickets are $29 each day.

Ski and snowboard rentals are left up to the participant.

The deadline to register is Jan. 6.
