A Colorado author who is donating a portion of book sales to Boys & Girls Clubs will be reading her book today in Craig.

Author Linda Petrie, of Alamosa, will read “A Snow Day for Hannah” at 3 p.m. today at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40.

The event is open to the public.

Donations accepted for holiday project

Donations will be accepted this month for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, in Craig.

During National Collection Week, donations are accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 14 to 19 and 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 20 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1050 Yampa Ave.

Donations include shoe boxes filled with school supplies, toys, necessity items and a letter of encouragement.

Other volunteers to process donations are also welcome.

Elkhead Reservoir Trail closed

The Elkhead Reservoir Trail at Elkhead State Park is closed for construction and re-vegetation until the summer of 2012.

State park staff ask visitors avoid the trail until it is opened next year.

Youths to present Cinderella show

Center Stage will present Walt Disney’s “Cinderella Kids” on Friday and Saturday in the Meeker High School auditorium, 550 School St., Meeker.

Performances are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday and 3 and 6 p.m. Saturday.

The production involves more than 40 Meeker youths.

Tickets are $6 each or five for $25 and are available at the door.
