Briefs for March 24, 2011: Craig Daily Press seeking new Editorial Board members

The Craig Daily Press is seeking three to four people to participate on its next Editorial Board, which begins April 4.

Editorial Board members meet from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays to discuss the newspaper’s opinion pieces for that week’s Wednesday and Saturday editions.

Editorial Board terms last three months.

Reunion for 1980s MCHS classes taking shape for this summer

Plans are underway for a 1980s reunion for Moffat County High School graduates. Members of classes 1980 through 1989 are invited to attend.

The event is scheduled for the weekend of July 15. However, specific events and details are yet to be determined.

VNA hosting drop-in clinic today

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association will host a drop-in immunization clinic for adolescents to get their Tdap and Meningococcal vaccinations from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today at Craig Middle School during parent-teacher conferences.

Parents must be present and need to bring their child’s immunization records.

Next Preserving the Last Frontier meeting set for Saturday

The Preserving the Last Frontier organization will host its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the second-floor library at Sunset Meadows I, 633 Ledford St. The program will either be the Dickinson/Sparks family history, or the history of Mills Craig.

Humane Society hosting adoption day Saturday

The Humane Society of Moffat County is hosting an adoption day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Craig Animal Shelter, 2430 E. Victory Way.

Animals will be available for a reduced $60 fee. The fee includes spay/neutering and vaccinations. The shelter is reaching capacity for both dogs and cats, the Humane Society reported.

Craig Concert Association sponsoring Monday performance

The Craig Concert Association is presenting a performance by the River City 6, a brass ensemble of six players from the River City Brass Band, at 7 p.m. Monday at the MCHS auditorium, 900 Finley Lane.

“Get all the excitement of a River City Brass Band Concert with the intimate setting of a chamber music recital,” according to a news release. “Come out and enjoy the show as the members of the River City 6 dazzle the crowd with lightning-fast licks, laughable antics and unforgettable charm.”

The concert is free for association members. The cost for non-members is $20 at the door.
