To the editor:
It has been said, and I believe it, too, that there are three types of people who run for any office — those who crave power, those who have an axe to grind and those who want to serve their community.
The third type is the only one we should ever elect. Two candidates in the Craig City Council election have asked me to express my support in a letter to the editor, and I am writing this because I believe both of them fit into the third category.
I was privileged to serve on the council with Don Jones for my time there and can say that he certainly fits into those criteria
Don has exhibited his dedication by his service and his willingness to continue in service to this community and I respect him for his dedication and the job he has done for us.
He has also served to represent the city concerning water issues and his experience there is greatly needed.
The second candidate is Joe Bird.
Joe ran for council last time and many of you did not know him. Since that time, he has served on the Craig Chamber of Commerce Board and the Boys & Girls Club of Craig Board and I believe he is ready to add to the quality of the city council as well.
His willingness to be involved in a community that he has chosen is inspiring to me and I believe we would do well to grant him that opportunity.
These are two men I will be voting for on my ballot as I am confident in not only their ability but in their heart.
