Television show plans casting call in Junction

“Wyoming’s Call of the Wild” will be hosting open casting calls for youths ages 14 to 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Sportsman’s Warehouse, 2464 Highways 6 and 50, in Grand Junction.

Craig resident and former Moffat County High School teacher Craig Conrad will be hosting the Wyoming-based nature television show, formerly known as “Call of the Wild: Generation Next in Wyoming,” when it starts filming in the fall.

The show, produced by Orion Multimedia, hopes to provide today’s younger generation the joys of being in the wild, executive producer Chris Dorsey said.

Youths have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

While the show will have casting calls in Tennessee, California and Utah, Conrad said the Grand Junction site would be the most accessible for youths on the Western Slope.

The casting call will consist of the parent or guardian filling out a brief questionnaire followed by a 10-minute filmed interview with the youth.
