There’s not much fun to report this weekend, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do.

Warmer weather has me itching to get to cleaning the house and planning for my first ever garden. Plus, we’ve got a little painting on the docket this weekend.

Spring is for spiffying up. (And yes, I am in the spring state of mind.)

■ Meet the governor as he visits Craig for the annual State of the County event.

Gov. John Hickenlooper is the keynote speaker at the event, which is hosted by the Craig Chamber of Commerce. The dinner presentation includes speeches on the chamber, the City of Craig and Moffat County and runs from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Holiday Inn of Craig, 300 S. Colorado Highway 13. The Chamber also presents several awards to local businesses and notable people.

Tickets are $40 for Chamber members or $50 for non-members.

For tickets, call 824-5689 or visit www.craig-chamber.com.

If you can’t make it, read coverage of the speakers at www.craigdailypress.com on Thursday.

■ Get your car checked for free, thanks to a small group from The Journey at First Baptist.

A car care clinic is available for single mothers, seniors and disabled residents from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Cook Chevrolet, 1776 W. Victory Way.

But, you need an appointment, so call Love In the Name of Christ of the Yampa Valley at 826-4400 if you qualify.

It’s a good reminder for us all to give our cars a once-over, though I think mine is in more desperate need of a soapy sponge and a vacuum at this point.

■ Settle in for a good show at West Theatre as “Rango” holds on for a second week and “Mars Needs Moms” comes out on Friday.

Fill your weekend with laughs with “Jackass 3,” “Life as We Know It” or “Morning Glory,” now out at Redbox. Or, if you’re in the mood for something a bit darker, rent “My Soul to Take,” also out on DVD this week.

I am in the mood for spring cleaning also. With the end of winter and the beginning of longer days, I have more energy to clean the cobwebs out! It is the best way to clear my head and life of unwanted clutter.
