To the editor:
The 18th annual Hospice Celebration of Life dinner and golf tournament was held on June 13 and 14 at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort and Catamount Ranch and Club golf course.
Once again the turnout was profound. More than 300 supporters of the Hospice program joined us for the dinner and program Monday night to remember and honor the lives of community members that we have lost during the past year.
Seventy golfers came out to enjoy Catamount’s spectacular course as well as to support the much-needed service Hospice provides to patients facing a terminal illness.
Last year, our Hospice staff helped 73 patients in the Yampa Valley live with a terminal diagnosis in their homes, our hospitals, our nursing homes and in the Rollingstone Respite House.
We were able to provide compassion, comfort, dignity and hope to our patients and their loved ones during these difficult times due to the generosity and support shown at our annual fundraising event.
Entertainment was providedby Steamboat’s own Missed The Boat, centerpieces were created and potted by children participating in the Poogie’s Place youth bereavement program, and our Hospice video was prepared by L.D. Shoffner. It was a very special evening enjoyed by all.
I would like to extend a very big thank you to all of the family members of those we serve, volunteers and staff, event sponsors, and to all who came out to celebrate and remember with us.
The generosity and support of this community continues to inspire and to remind us all why this is such a wonderful community.
