Plan for better communication between employees and citizens: 1)Include citizens on the group to plan for better communication with citizens being an equal part in a round table

2) Print an agenda that would be available for the attending public for all county meetings.

3)Introduce yourselves and your county held positions at the beginning of the meeting.

4) When begining a new topic annouce topic and a short synopsis of the topic.

5)When county employees report announce their name and position and what they will report on.

6) If audience members speak they should stand and give their name for the record when recognized by chair or members of the presiding meeting.

7) Encourage attendance by having evening meetings. Possibly shorter morning meetings to handle employee reports and short evening meetings to had handle more discussion items. Both meetings would be considered to be open with the public invited with good audience understanding and exchange.

8)Employees that meet citizens at their window should greet and introduce themselves with an inviting manner. Often the employee might forget that the citizen doesn't have the knowledge of job you are doing and have to be kindly lead through the steps. Again here it is communication of understanding. Sometimes you might have to probe that understanding by asking more questions to see if the person understands rather giving answers. That is the challenge of communication!
