Sports Briefs for June 15, 2011: Horseback riding, fishing trip slated

Craig Parks and Recreation is teaming up with Sable Mountain Outfitters out of Meeker for a horseback riding and fishing trip June 21.

The trip will start with a guided horseback riding trip through the mountain trails to Marvine Creek, where participants will then have the rest of the day to fish.

Participants must be at least 8 years old to go on the trip. Registration is $80 per person.

TMH golf tournament scheduled for June 24

Yampa Valley Golf Course will host the 11th annual The Memorial Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament on June 24.

Check-in time will be at 11 a.m., and the shotgun start is slated for noon.

The tournament is a four-person scramble format to benefit the hospital foundation.

The entry fee is $50 per person, or $200 per team, and includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, all-you-can eat burgers and a chance to win cash prizes.

The deadline to register is June 20.

3-day junior golf clinic starts June 20

Yampa Valley Golf Course is hosting a junior golf clinic June 20 to 22.

The clinic will be split into three time segments — 8 to 9 a.m., 9:15 to 10:15 a.m., and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. — based on the number of youths who register.

Golfers of any skill level from ages 5 to 17 are encouraged to attend the clinic.

Registration is $30, which includes all three days of lessons.
