Power outage affects customers in Craig, four other towns

A power outage today in Northwest Colorado impacted 9,187 residences and businesses.

Bill Caynor, operations manager for Yampa Valley Electric Association, said power was interrupted for 11 minutes, from 10:03 to 10:14 a.m.

The cause of the outage is unknown, but Caynor said it originated from Xcel Energy, a company YVEA buys a portion of its electricity from.

The outage affected customers in Craig, Baggs, Wyo., Hamilton, Hayden and Meeker.
