It’s likely the most anticipated weekend of the year in Moffat County, and it’s finally here.

■ Whittle the Wood Rendezvous kicks off today as the carvers pick their stumps and get to work at Craig City Park.

Check out the carvers from about 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today through Friday, and watch them finish up Saturday during the big day in the park.

There are food and arts and crafts vendors at the park all day Saturday, and live music to keep you entertained.

Filthy Children plays at 3 p.m. Saturday, and The Outlaws take the stage at 5 p.m.

But remember, no more bringing your own alcohol. There will be a fundraising beer garden for your drinking pleasure.

Filthy Children will be playing additional concerts from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday at J.W. Snack’s Bar & Grill, 210 E. Victory Way. No cover, so enjoy.

■ Check out more live music from 8 p.m. to might Friday and Saturday as Cabin Fever takes the No Float Showboat stage at the O.P. Bar & Grill.

Also, the Goodman Band is playing the Sports Page Bar at the Holiday Inn of Craig from 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The band plays Southern rock music.

■ Take a stroll to downtown Craig for the Bear River Young Life & Colorado Cruisers Car & Motorcycle Show.

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the 400 and 500 blocks of Yampa Avenue. Head on down to vote on your favorites and see all those sweet rides.

■ Enjoy a night out during the TGIF Chapman couples tournament at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Yampa Valley Golf Course, 2179 Colorado Highway 394.

The theme for the tournament is Pirate Night. The cost is $46 per couple.

■ Take a step back in time during the annual Jarvie Ranch Family Fest from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at John Jarvie Ranch.

There will be free music, horse-drawn wagon rides and demonstrations. Lunch is $5.

■ Cheer on the cowboys and cowgirls in Craig for the Colorado State High School Rodeo finals at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.

Performances are at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday and Saturday. The championship round is at 10 a.m. Sunday.

A wristband to see all the performances is $20, but kids ages 10 and younger and seniors are free.

■ Saddle up and head to Hayden for the open horse show at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Routt County Fairgrounds.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. in this show hosted by the Yampa Valley Horse Show Association.

The cost is $9 in advance at www.yampavalleyhorseshow.com or $10 on show day.

■ Support local Relay for Life teams during fundraisers this weekend.

Bank of Colorado’s Pirates of the CURE-ibbean team will be selling lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the building’s parking lot at 250 W. Victory Way.

A hot dog plate costs $3, and a hamburger plate costs $5.

The Craig Chamber of Commerce’s Relay for Life team will be selling bracelets, cups and other items during Whittle the Wood Rendezvous from noon on Saturday at Craig City Park.
