Janet Sheridan: Crossing Kansas
June 2, 2011
A sister-in-law burst into tears when she entered Colorado for the first time after a long drive on I-70: “I thought I’d see mountains. It looks just like Kansas.” In the past, I, too, misjudged Kansas.
Andy Bockelman: ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’ reaches new heights of awesomeness
June 2, 2011
The protagonist of “Kung Fu Panda 2” goes against some standards set for action heroes. For example, he lacks the ability to walk three flights of stairs without puking and his tummy rumbles even in the middle of a fight. But, once you light a fire under this big black and white cannonball, get out of the way and prepare to watch the fireworks.

Changes in store for Whittle the Wood
June 2, 2011
In organizing Craig’s biggest summer event, Craig Parks and Recreation Director Dave Pike has made some changes to this year’s Whittle the Wood Rendezvous. Some changes he believes people will be happy about, while others might not be as popular. People attending the 12th annual Whittle the Wood will not be able to provide their own alcohol at the event, which will take place June 15 to 18 in Craig City Park. Pike said the decision was made because Whittle the Wood organizers had been prompted by a similar event in Snowmass Village that had caused controversy with Colorado’s open container laws.

Annie’s Mailbox for June 2, 2011: Husband has turned into lazy slob
June 2, 2011
I am down to my last nerve with my husband of 30 years. He has turned into a lazy slob I can no longer tolerate. Last year, “Evan” worked a total of three weeks. It was the same the year before. He has taken one shower in the past four months, which was also the only time he changed his clothes. I work a full-time job, and Evan sits in front of the TV all day long.
