- Janet Sheridan: They (chickens) are on their way
- 02:08 p.m., July 7, 2011 Updated 12:00 a.m.
- The chickens are coming — pecking, molting, cackling, and scratching their way across America. Large cities and small towns are rolling out red carpets and gearing up welcome wagons for hens willing to live a rooster-less life. Craig Police Chief Walt Vanatta recently warned our city council that chickens could soon strut into Craig as well, an influx welcomed by a majority of the respondents to a Craig Daily Press poll who approved both chickens and goats inside city limits. What wonderful news!

- Andy Bockelman: Third ‘Transformers’ installment little more than nuts and bolts
- 11:15 a.m., July 7, 2011 Updated 12:00 a.m.
- Although the soundtrack of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” contains no music whatsoever by Pink Floyd, the progressive rock group’s seminal album still comes to mind when describing it. It’s the kind of movie that will definitely make a lot of “Money,” possibly cause a little “Brain Damage” and hopefully be forgotten with the passage of “Time.” Ever since their arrival on Earth, the Autobots of Cybertron have been assisting the U.S. government in containing the most dangerous threats to security, be they human or the evil Cybertronian counterparts, the Decepticons. While Autobot leader Optimus Prime (voice of Peter Cullen) and his crew have been hard at work, one of their human friends isn’t quite as busy.

- Annie’s Mailbox for July 7, 2011: In-laws’ affair keeping sibling from family events
- July 7, 2011
- I work in a family business along with my parents, my brother and my sister. Two years ago, my brother’s wife and my sister’s husband also worked there, but they had an affair and moved away together. Three months later, they both returned to their spouses. Their marriages are reconciled, but they are not allowed back in the family business. I refuse to attend any event that includes the two of them. I am so upset about what they did to my family that I will not speak to either of them.
- A calling followed: Volunteers, cyclists pitch in during cross-country trip
- 01:53 a.m., July 7, 2011 Updated 12:00 a.m.
- Laura Larson spent most of Wednesday morning scooping piles of fallen branches from a weedy lawn and into a trailer. The yard work, she said, is her ticket across the country. “I love cycling,” Larson said. “I’ve always dreamt of riding across the country on my bike. This is one way to do it, and also do something for society.”
