Sports Briefs for July 4, 2011: Swimming Complex schedule changes this weekend

Due to the Craig Sea Sharks ABC Meet from Friday through Sunday at the Craig Swimming Complex, only the wave pool will be open to the public those three days.

In following safety regulations for the wave pool, only 200 swimmers will be allowed in the pool at one time on a first-come, first-serve basis.

There will be two sessions on Friday and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., and one session on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Thunder Ridge hosts 1st stock car races Saturday

Thunder Ridge Motor Sports Park, located south of Craig, will host its first stock car races Saturday.

The first race will begin at 7:30 p.m., but an extended hot lap session will prelude for a test and tune.

The track has acquired an International Motor Contest Association sanctioning and will also put on a sprint car show.

Racers can register for $25.

The general admission cost is $10 and attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.

Coaching changes to take affect next year

According to the June 11 Moffat County School District personnel report, a few changes will be made in coaching positions at Moffat County High School and Craig Middle School.

Justin Folley will replace Steve Loveland as the CMS boys basketball head coach effective Aug. 26.

Matt Ray will replace Gary Tague as CMS football head coach effective Aug. 29.

Ken Olinger resigned as MCHS track and field coach effective May 26.
