Briefs for Jan. 25, 2011: REPS offers suicide prevention training today
Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide is slated to present Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training today and Wednesday at the Moffat County Public Safety Center, 800 W. First St.
Participants will learn to recognize suicide and depression warning signs, apply a model for intervention, and how to link people with community resources.
The workshop lasts from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is free.
Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided. Donations are accepted.
One continuing education credit through Adams State College for the course is available for $55.

Coffee party to honor late member at Saturday meeting
The Craig Coffee Party, a non-partisan group that discusses a variety of political topics, is scheduled to meet from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Serendipity Coffee Shop, 576 Yampa Ave.
The meeting is in honor of the late Jim Blevins, a Craig resident and party member. He died Jan. 22. Saturday’s meeting is open to the public.
Craig library branch closed today
The Craig branch of the Moffat County Libraries, 570 Green St., will be closed today so system upgrades can be performed. The library branch will reopen Wednesday.
Seedling tree orders being accepted
The Colorado First Conservation District is taking orders for seedling trees. A variety of trees and shrubs are available to enhance wildlife, create windbreaks and snow fences.
The trees will arrive the first week of May in time to plant. The average cost of the trees is less than $1 each.
To obtain trees, you must own at least two acres of land.
Order forms may be obtained at the Bureau of Land Management, Moffat County Extension Office or the USDA/district office at 145 Commerce St. For more information, call 824-3476, ext. 101.
Food distributions set for Wednesday in Maybell, Dinosaur
A United States Department of Agriculture food supplement distribution is scheduled for 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Maybell Community Center, and also 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the same day at the county office in Dinosaur.
