To the editor:

As the public relations committee chairwoman for the Craig Rotary Club, I would like to convey what the club’s Diamonds & Spurs event is really about.

The event is and always has been a fundraiser to support the various projects the club performs in our community including scholarships, reading and dictionary programs for elementary-level students, lifeline as well as partnering with other Rotary Clubs to donate funds for medical and educational needs on an international level.

The club has also donated funds to Love INC and the SHARE program when it was available.

To refer to it as an “adult prom” is not reflective of what it is really all about.

As for the formality, the name says it all, come in your diamonds or come in your spurs.
