The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association Board announced this morning the replacement for exiting chief executive officer Sue Birch.

Lisa Brown, according to a VNA news release, will assume the position of acting CEO.

Brown has been the VNA’s director of development since 2009.

“I am looking forward to continuing to help provide community health and wellness and sustain the tremendous work that Sue has done for our region over the past decade” Brown said.

Before starting her career at the VNA, she was program manager at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation. She is currently a member of the Steamboat Springs School Board.

John Merrill, VNA board president, praised Brown in the release.

“Lisa Brown has a hands-on knowledge of all of the integrated programs of the agency,” he said. “This is in addition to her development and budgeting skills. We can anticipate as close to a seamless transition as possible.”

Birch was recently named executive director of the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing by governor-elect John Hickenlooper. Her last day with the VNA is Friday.

A farewell reception for Birch is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. today at the VNA’s Craig office. The VNA will also welcome Brown during the reception.
