If you can’t beat the cold, go out and revel in it.
This weekend boasts one of the area’s biggest events of the year, so don’t miss the fun.
■ Wyman’s Winter Festival is Saturday and Sunday at Wyman Museum, 94350 E. U.S. Highway 40.
With X-Treme Mountain Snow-X Racing (starting at 9 a.m. Saturday), Warrior Freestyle Show (at noon and 6 p.m. Saturday), drag racing (at 9 a.m. Sunday), Snowmobile Jackpot Rodeo (at noon Sunday), cardboard box derby (at 2 p.m. Saturday) and an antique snowmobile show (at 10 a.m. Saturday), there’s plenty to get you busted out of your cabin fever.
Plus, during the two-day event, don’t miss sleigh rides, professional ice carvers, a hot toddy bar and vendors. And, there will be fireworks Saturday night.
For more information about Winter Festival, call the museum at 824-6346.
■ Also out at Wyman’s is the annual Chili Cook-Off put on by the Craig Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.
The cook-off includes two categories — red and other — and runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with judging at 12:30 p.m. There are prizes for the winners and for People’s Choice.
The entry fee is $15 for Chamber members or $20 for non-members.
Or, if you’re more into eating chili, sample all entries for $1 or pay $3 for a full bowl.
For more information, call the Chamber at 824-5689.
■ It’s Girl Scout cookie time.
If you neglected to place your order earlier this year, head down to one of several stores to get your stash while the selection is still good.
The girls get started Friday, when they’ll be at City Market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Walgreens from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Walmart from noon to 5 p.m.
On Saturday, buy yours at City Market from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Walgreens from noon to 5 p.m. or Walmart from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Sunday, they’re at City Market, Walgreens and Safeway from noon to 4 p.m.
The girls are also set up Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Market and Walmart.
Pick me up a box of Tagalongs.
■ Check out the work of Baggs, Wyo., resident Linda Battson in her recently published book “What kind crazy” this weekend.
Linda will be at Downtown Books, 543 Yampa Ave., to read some of her work at 2 p.m. Saturday. Head on down to meet her and pick up your own copy.
Call 824-5343 for more details.
■ West Theatre is getting in the new release “I Am Number Four” on Friday and will hold onto “Gnomeo & Juliet.”
Redbox now has “Waiting for ‘Superman.’” I am excited to see how it portrays our public education system.
