To the editor:
This year, the Haven Assisted Living Residence in Hayden is thrilled to be the recipient of many pounds of meat from 4-H Livestock Sale Buyers.
This very generous donation included six lambs, two hogs, and two beef.
Many of our residents of the Haven have lived in Northwest Colorado for a very long time and have strong family histories in ranching and agriculture. And, they simply love meat.
Because of this wonderful donation from our community members and businesses, we have been able to offer many special menu items to our residents. We served a delicious lamb curry dish, and a unique steak fajita dinner that became an instant favorite among the residents.
These donations will save 10 percent of the total kitchen budget for the year. This totals about $ 4,000.
The Haven is a nonprofit 501(c)3. We provide a homelike assisted living residence for seniors 55 and older who do not require skilled nursing care, but who no longer can, or want, to live alone.
As a part of our daily care, we cook all of our meals from scratch for the residents in our care. We would like to thank the community for recognizing us and our seniors as a very valuable part of the community.

Director, The Haven
