If your car or truck needs protection from the harsh winter weather of Northwest Colorado, your best bet would be something like the leathery epidermis of a pachyderm. Now is the time to get such a covering.

Rhino Linings of Craig, 451 Green St., is offering a 10-percent discount on its products throughout the holiday season.

“It’s a sale on pretty much everything we have from Rhino,” co-owner Greg Brewer said.

Rhino’s line of products includes tonneau covers, pickup truck bed liners and other such auto accessories to prevent undue wear and tear on vehicles.

“We sell lift kits, rocker panels, bug shields, a lot of different stuff,” Brewer said. “We can get any accessory for a car, remote starters, stereos or anything.”

In addition to performing auto detailing and repairing for customers, the business also houses one of the three U-Haul outlets in Craig. The holiday Rhino discount does not apply to rental service.

“U-Haul is a secondary part of our business, we just go off their prices,” Brewer said.

Brewer said he has had a slower year than expected.

“Last year was better than what we’ve sold this year,” he said. “We did quite a few bed liners, but it always slows down in the winter.”

Brewer said he was surprised more people didn’t take advantage of U-Haul’s services during the season.

“For moving, it’s a good time to rent because they usually have good rates, it’s definitely the better time to move your stuff,” he said. “We do moving help, a couple people we send out for loading and unloading.

“Of course, nobody wants to move in the winter.”

Restaurant promotes Christmas menu items

Some foods will always be part of the annual yuletide tradition.

Whether it’s a hearty dinner selection or a delectable dessert, it wouldn’t be Christmas without the old favorites, no matter how you slice it.

Be sure to stop by Village Inn, 1103 W. Victory Way, to indulge in the restaurant’s contribution to holiday sweetness — their renowned selection of pies. At this time of year, the list that includes Country Apple, Pecan, Banana Cream and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup has some extra additions, such as the Pumpkin Pie with Whipped Cream and the minty Candy Cane.

“The seasonal favorite is probably the pumpkin, and a lot of people like the French silk,” general manager Jeff Leavitt said.

The weekly special Pie Rush Wednesdays aren’t the only time when customers can get a good deal on a sugary slice.

Leavitt said Village Inn offered a turkey dinner special with cranberries and stuffing starting around Thanksgiving.

“We’ll have the same thing starting for Christmas week, except with holiday ham and a junior turkey dinner for kids, too,” he said. “That all comes with a free slice of pumpkin pie.”

Leavitt said the restaurant will have some more menu additions after the holidays.

“The middle of January, we’ll have some new features out, like chicken fried steak and some other stuff,” he said.
